Edit PDFs in every language, all in one place

panpdf opens and edits your file on your own device — nothing is uploaded, nothing to sign up for — and it knows Thai, Lao and dozens of other scripts directly, not as an afterthought.

Thai · Lao · English · Chinese · Arabic · and dozens more

Nothing to trust us with

There is no server that could keep your document, because your document never reaches one. The editor is a few files your browser downloads once; after that you can disconnect and keep working.

One exception, stated plainly: the adverts on this page load from Google. They are never handed your document — a script on the page cannot read the file you opened.

Keeps working when the connection does not

Everything runs in the tab. Aeroplane, hotel Wi-Fi, a locked-down office network — the editor does not care, because there is nothing for it to call home to.

How it works

  1. 1

    Open your PDF

Drop it in, or click to choose it.

  2. 2

    Click a line, retype it

Pick a font from the toolbar if you want a script the file's own font cannot draw.

Questions people ask

Is my file really not uploaded?

Really. The page loads its own code once, and from then on it only reads the file you chose through the browser's own file API.

Why is it free?

Advertising on the page pays for hosting, which is cheap precisely because nothing runs on a server.

Can it edit a scanned document?

Not the text in it. A scan is a photograph of a page — there are no letters in the file to rewrite.

Can it open a password-protected PDF?

Yes. Enter its password to decrypt it on your device, then download an unlocked copy or protect it again with AES-256. Passwords are never stored or sent off your device.

Is there a file size limit?

Only your own device's memory — nothing is transferred, so there is no upload cap.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It is a web page, and it runs in the browser you already have open.
